Couples like Amy and Anish are the couples that inspire Nicolas Sparks books and romantic Ryan Gossling movies. There is an ease between them, they are truly partners in life; it is beautiful in every way.
Amy and Anish planned their wedding from their new home in Texas. I got to know them through many skype calls, emails, and phone chats. I was excited to photograph their wedding for so many reasons, but one of the main reason I was looking extra forward to it was the incorporation of Anish’s Indian culture into the Catholic Ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica. Every detail of this wedding was thoughtful and beautiful on top of holding significant meaning for the couple. Amy’s stunning bouquet was crafted by Melinda at Les Bouquets and included a brooch from Amy’s late grandmother. In lieu of favors Amy and Anish, who are huge dog lovers, gave a donation to stray rescue, Amy and all of her bridesmaids wore stunning Mehndi, and at their ceremony, Anish presented Amy with a beautiful necklace in place of the more traditional Mangala Sutra knot tying ceremony.
This couple’s wedding day was subject to what I call stereotypical St. Louis weather. We experienced a real feel of close to 100 degrees and some very heavy thunderstorms all within a matter of hours, but it never got Amy and Anish down. They were so happy to be celebrating their marriage – a little rain cloud wouldn’t get them down. With some quick thinking and the use of a few umbrellas we made the best of our portrait time and then headed off to the stunning St. Louis Art Museum for the reception. I love photographing at the Art Museum, Erika and the staff there are amazing!
It brings tears to my eyes when I get a review like this one, “I’m not sure I can put into words how happy I am that we chose Dana as our wedding photographer! Dana is an incredibly talented photographer, but also an amazing person in general. We live out of town and she was so willing to work with us on skype and move her schedule around to meet with us for our engagement session when we were in St. Louis. She is professional, flexible, compassionate, energetic, and creative. On our wedding day the weather went from sunny and 99 degrees to pouring rain, but that did not affect her at all. She was still smiling and coming up with wonderful ideas for our photos. Her attitude really helped us to stay calm and worry-free all day long. We will have these stunning photos as our wedding memories forever, and we are so glad that Dana was our photographer!!! I recommend her 1000%!
Congratulations! Amy and Anish! May you have years of happiness, the blessing of children and dogs, and countless moments of bliss together.
