Tell me about how you got started in letterpressing and making wedding invitations. We started letterpressing 3 years ago. It all started pretty naturally – my wife was taking some printmaking course at her college and I would go visit her – that’s where I was first introduced to the process and that’s where I fell in love with it. It didn’t take long for me to get my first letterpress and start chugging along. Customer service and custom design are very important elements of the company.

What makes letterpress wedding invitations different from other invites? Simply put? It’s a piece of art that you will keep forever and that you’re gifting to your guests. More elaborately? Letterpress is a hands on art that is about as far away from the digital world as you can get. It’s made using vintage machines in a modern age. It doesn’t get much cooler than that, in my mind. Each and every piece of the wedding suite has been hand crafted to the bride’s tastes. It doesn’t get any more personal than that.

Why should a bride to be choose custom letterpress invitations? I don’t know anyone who wants another run-of-the-mill, fresh out of the cookie cutter anything. Your wedding is unique to you, why shouldn’t your wedding suite be?

What do you love most about creating custom wedding invitations? My favorite part about creating these wedding suites is when I get to give them to the brides and grooms. Nothing beats the look on their face when they see their wedding invitations in real life. My love language is giving. So when I get to ask these men and women what it is they want and then take that abstract idea and transform it into a tangible, real-world, physical object, that is incredibly satisfying. Right behind that is my love of creating. I love to design beautiful things. I love to turn those ideas into printed wedding suites. There is something very satisfying to be able to use my mind first to create it visually and then to use my hands to create it physically.

Three words that describe your style? Modern, Specialized and Beautiful.

Can you give two suggestions for making the wedding invitation design process easier?  From the very beginning, you want someone who is interested in your style. You don’t want someone who is going to create something just for the sake of creating it. But, on the other hand, you need to be able to loosen the reigns a little bit and let them do their thing. A lot of people don’t realize that most creative people function better when they are given some boundaries to work within. There is some rumor floating around that creative people want to run free and do whatever they want. But that can actually be crippling to many creatives. So give them some thoughtful direction and then let them go.
